Through a recent AI Studio Challenge, Mastercard partnered with a team of Break Through Tech fellows to tackle a critical business issue: predicting customer churn.

Using Large Language Models (LLMs) and a range of machine learning techniques—including clustering, dimensionality reduction, and sentiment analysis— AI Program fellows worked to organize unstructured customer feedback into 10–15 distinct, meaningful themes.

Using insurance claim data, Break Through Tech AI fellows worked with Allstate to develop machine learning models that forecast the ultimate cost of insurance claims.

Together, Break Through Tech AI fellows and Anote are fine-tuning LLMs to improve their performance on finance-specific tasks—an innovation that could boost efficiency and decision-making across the industry.
