Sydney Mayer
Summer Intern
Sydney is an undergraduate at Washington University in St. Louis, where she plans to double major in astrophysics and pure math. Prior to studying at WashU, she took a gap year which she spent tutoring high school students in advanced math and science courses. As a woman in STEM, she has first-hand experience with gender inequality in an academic atmosphere. She is a board member of the WashU chapter of the Association for Women in Mathematics, where she dedicates her time to encouraging students of underrepresented gender identities to get involved in STEM. Her belief in creating gender equality has led her to Break Through Tech, where she works as a summer intern.
