Sprinternships™ are quick and immersive paid micro-internships that support you early on in your computing studies, providing work experience and a tech-industry résumé credential that can help you land your first tech internship.

Sprinternships™ run for three weeks during academic breaks and are hosted by companies, so each experience and project challenge is unique. All Sprinternships™ are built around several common features:

• Tackling a real business challenge while immersed in a host company’s culture
• Strengthening a professional network and connections in the tech community
• Working in a team of peers to help build collaboration skills and confidence.

How it Works

• Programs run for three weeks in January and May during academic breaks nationally.
• You will commit to working full-time (40 hours per week) as an intern for a company Break Through Tech matches you with.
• Your host company will either expect you to work in person at their office for the full work week, on a hybrid schedule, or fully remote.
• You will join a team of four other student Sprinterns™ (from other colleges) and work together on a “challenge project” assigned by your host company. See sample challenge projects from previous Sprinternships.
• Your host company will pay you an hourly rate they determine and will fully onboard you into their payroll system.

Who is eligible to apply?

In order to be eligible for the Sprinternships™ program, you must meet the following requirements:

• Prove authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship with a valid form of U.S. identification
• Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program and have a declared major or planning to major or minor in computing, IT, network engineering or a related discipline
• Must be in good academic standing with at least a 2.0 GPA and on track to graduate
• Must have demonstrated ability to perform technical work in computing and/or related disciplines
• Must have a valid U.S. Address and be living in the United States during the Sprinternship™
