Texas Sprinternship™
Sprinternship™ Program, in partnership with The University of Texas System
Break Through Tech is focused on providing college women and historically underserved populations in tech with work experience and a tech-industry resume credential that has been shown to increase your ability to obtain a paid internship significantly.
Program Highlights
The Sprinternship, in partnership with The University of Texas System, is a full-time (40 hours a week), paid micro-internship program that takes place during your college’s academic break (May 13-31) and January 2025 (January 2-17).
Over the three-week Sprinternship™, you will work with a team of other students on a technical challenge project assigned to you by the business you are matched with. You’ll also meet with technical and business leaders to learn more about the business’s unique culture and build a network of tech professionals.

May 13 – 31, 2024 (14 full-time work days/ 112 hours)

January 2025 Sprinternship™:
January 2 – 17 (12 full-time work days/96 hours)
Deadline to apply: October 6, 2024
How it Works
- Work full-time as a Sprintern™ on a team for a host company
- Work collaboratively with 3-5 student Sprinterns™ from the other University of Texas System institutions on a “challenge project.” Your host company will determine the project parameters and expectations.
- Get paid by your host company
Inside the Program
Prep Workshops
If this is your first time working in a tech office, we have you covered. We will prepare you for your Sprinternships™ through workshops that cover resume writing, making a great elevator pitch, professional goal-setting, understanding organizational culture, working in teams, tech project management, and common software tools. Additionally, all Sprinterns™ will be invited to participate in virtual technical training on various coding languages. In total, you will participate in approximately 15 hours of unpaid workshops all of which take place virtually and are scheduled a few weeks before the start of your Sprinternship™.
Sprinternship™ Challenge Project
Your team will receive a challenge project to work on throughout your Sprinternship™. You can collect background information, size up the problem, develop a creative solution that uses technology, and pitch it to the leadership team.
Immersion into a Workplace
You will be welcomed as a working member of the host company you are matched with. Knowing about the inner workings of a company can help you think about the career paths that might be in your future. You will meet with various internal departments and learn about what people do and how they work together.
After the Sprinternship™
Students who complete the Sprinternship™ walk away with a valuable resume credential, a professional network, and, in some cases, the opportunity to apply for their host company’s summer internship program.
